Whether you go grocery shopping daily, weekly, or even monthly, I'm sure we can all agree that this is a significant expense from our monthly budget. Even though food and other personal products are essential in our lives, I will tell you friends that there are a few ways to reduce that expense without compromising on the quality of the products!
1. Create a grocery list. Take a few minutes to prepare a list of the products you have to buy. Check your fridge, freezer, cabinets and pantry to ensure you don't forget anything. You are less likely to purchase unecessary (and expensive) items when you know exactly what you need.
2. Create a second list. Whenever you run out of something - toothpaste, pasta, etc. - write it down. That way, next time you go grocery shopping, half of the list will be done! If you have to leave your house everytime you remember you're out of eggs or milk, you waste time, gas and money (generally products at the corner store cost more!)
3. Check out weekly flyers & compare prices. This will also help you plan and create your grocery list - not to mention you can save a few dollars by asking for a price match!
4. Avoid junk food. Stay away from pre-cooked meals, candy, etc.
5. Drink water. Trade in juices and soda drinks with water! Not only H2O is cheaper, it's also healthier! :-)
6. Bring reusable bags - specially if the supermarket charges for plastic bags. This helps both your wallet and the environment!
What are some of your tips to reduce your grocery bill?
